Monsoon
While the animals are preparing their winter sleep, Monsoon is undergoing a drastic molting period combined with the release of their fourth album this autumn : The King of Eyes, Tits & Teeth. The result is more than ever a sensual pop rock album: sexy and stunning.
As always, Monsoon has a strong sense of extreme habitats, not in the least due to combination of the restless voice of Delphine Gardin and the light-headed and lasting compositions of Joël Grignard.
Their yearlong cooperation already brought forth 3 albums: Monsoon (2003), Speak (2004) and The Weird Zoo (2005). Adulated by the Belgian press, Monsoon plaid on big festivals (Pukkelpop, Nandrin, Cactus, …), got on stage in Paradiso in Amsterdam (in the company of P.J. Harvey), plaid the North Festival in Tilburg and Eurosonic in Groningen, and in more prestigious clubs in Berlin.
Loyal to their track record, the duo as usual, is relying on a group of talented musicians and inexhaustible professionals who really know how to serve the music at the right temperature: Peter Vandenberghe (keyboards), Laurent Stelleman (guitars), Cédric Guffens (drums). The cooperation with these musicians results this time in a tighter rhythm and enables new elements.
This also counts for their new single Comic Strip Bubbles, on which the rough hefty voice of Sacha Toorop with impunity harmonizes with the voice of Delphine.
Poetical or poisonous, Monsoon’s stories are well thought-out and leave you with a slightly drunk and sweet, hallucinating impression. With The King of Eyes, Tits & Teeth, is delivering on the one hand an album full of contrasts, on the other hand however, the group is noticeably limiting itself to the essentials: edgy and provoking rock, intriguing stories and compelling danceable. Strange characters are still crossing their path, but this time, they will be tamed and asked for a dance on a carnivalesque and exuberant ball.

Monsoon
Alors que la plupart des grands animaux se préparent à une longue hibernation, Monsoon opère sa mue spectaculaire vers un pop rock plus langoureux, sexy et percutant que jamais, offrant à l’automne son quatrième album, « The King of Eyes, Tits & Teeth ».
Monsoon a toujours cultivé un goût prononcé pour les univers extrêmes, mariant la voix lumineuse et inquiétante de Delphine Gardin avec les compositions tour à tour écorchées et vaporeuses de Joël Grignard. Leur collaboration de longue haleine a donné naissance à trois albums réalisés sous le sceau d’une farouche indépendance: Monsoon (2003), Speak (2004) et The Weird Zoo (2005). Célébrés par la presse nationale, Monsoon a arpenté les scènes de festival à gros calibre (Pukkelpop, Nandrin, Cactus), mais également celles du Paradiso à Amsterdam (en compagnie de P.J. Harvey), du Noord Festival à Tilburg, de l’Eurosonic à Groningen, et des clubs prestigieux de Berlin.
Fidèle à ce parcours rigoureux, le duo s’appuie depuis toujours sur des musiciens incontournables, forgerons infatigables d’un rock chauffé à blanc : Peter Vandenberghe (claviers), Laurent Stelleman (guitare), Cédric Guffens (batterie). Ici, la rencontre entre ces univers complémentaires suit un rythme plus tendu, plus rigoureux, et prend le temps d’accueillir des éléments nouveaux. Il en va ainsi du premier single, Comic Strip Bubbles, où la voix corsée de Sacha Toorop roule en toute impunité aux côtés de Delphine.
Poétiques ou vénéneuses, les histoires contées par Monsoon sont taillées au ciseau et laissent une impression trouble d’ivresse et de douce hallucination. Avec The King of Eyes, Tits & Teeth, Monsoon délivre un album contrasté, mais resserre considérablement son propos : un rock anguleux et exalté, conteur d’histoire et sublimement dansant. Le chemin est toujours peuplé de créatures sauvageonnes, mais peu à peu apprivoisées, et c’est avec délice qu’ils sont désormais invités à ce bal burlesque et frénétique.

Terwijl de dieren hun winterslaap voorbereiden, ondergaat Monsoon een ingrijpende ruitijd en brengt tijdens deze herfstperiode een vierde album uit : « The King of Eyes, Tits & Teeth ». Het resultaat is meer dan ooit een zwoele pop rock plaat geworden: sexy en opzienbarend.
Monsoon heeft zoals steeds een uitgesproken zin voor extreme leefwerelden, niet in het minst door het samenbrengen van de heldere en ongedurige stem van Delphine Gardin, met de ijle en beklijvende composities van Joël Grignard.
Hun jarenlange samenwerking bracht 3 albums voort : « Monsoon » (2003), « Speak » (2004) et « The Weird Zoo » (2005). Bewierookt door de vaderlandse pers, beklom Monsoon de podia van grote festivals (Pukkelpop, Nandrin, Cactus, …), Paradiso in Amsterdam (in gezelschap van P.J. Trouw aan hun parcours, leunt het duo zoals steeds op talentvolle muzikanten, onvermoeibare vaklui die de muziek op de juiste temperatuur weten te brengen : Peter Vandenberghe (toetsen), Laurent Stelleman (gitaar), Cédric Guffens (drums). De samenwerking met deze muzikanten zorgt dit maal voor een strakker ritme en geeft ruimte aan nieuwe elementen.
Dit geldt eveneens voor de nieuwe single « Comic Strip Bubbles », waarbij de stoere stem van Sacha Toorop ongestraft kan samenvloeien met deze van Delphine.
Poëtisch of giftig, de verhalen van Monsoon zijn doordacht en laten een licht dronken en zoet hallucinerende indruk achter.
Met «The King of Eyes, Tits & Teeth », levert Monsoon een album vol contrasten af maar beperkt zich opvallend tot het essentiële: hoekige en ophitsende rock, intrigerende verhalen, onweerstaanbaar dansbaar. Hun pad wordt nog steeds bewandeld door vreemde figuren, maar deze keer worden ze getemd en worden ze met genoegen mee ten dans gevraagd op een carnavalesk en uitbundig bal!
